YOU and keeping YOUR arteries clean

The following is from livstrong.com.

Your diet directly affects our health, including the health of your

circulatory system.   Over time, a diet high in fat and processed

foods elevates your cholesterol levels high Ldl cholesterol, the

bad cholesterol is one of the causes of atherosclerosis, a hard

plaque that builds up in your arteries, narrowing them and

impeding proper blood flow.  Atherosclerosis increases your risk

for developing heart disease and stroke the good news is that a

health-healthy diet helps clean plaque from your arteries,

improves blood flow and keeps your circulatory system working

properly.

Here is a list of foods to help keep arteries clean and healthy:

Whole grains

Fruits

Vegetables

Legumes

Fish

Lean meats

Low-fat and fat-free dairy

Nuts

Oils

Beverages

I also for 30 years have been flossing my teeth at least once a

day.  This helps keep the arteries clean also.

I also take:

L-Arginine

Dr. Axe says this about L-arginine and how it works:

Fighting inflammation

Lowering risk for arteriosclerosis and health attack

Repair blood vessels

Fighting congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease

Helping lower high blood pressure

Improving athletic performance

Increasing immune function

Reducing muscle pains

Improving kidney function

Improving mental capacity

Fighting dementia

Preventing common cold

Improves heart health

Lowers inflammation and fights effects of aging

Boosts exercise performance

Improves immunity

Help treat erectile dysfunction and infertility

The following of best natural sources of L-arginine:

Cage-free eggs

Dairy products like cultured yogurt, kefir, raw cheeses

Grass fed beef

Liver and organ meats

Wild caught fish

Sesame seeds

Pumpkin seeds

Spirulina

Brazil nuts

Walnuts

Almonds

Coconut meat

Healthyfoodhouse.com gives a natural way to clean blood vessels

and clogged arteries

Four garlic bulbs and four lemons.  Ground both garlic and lemon

finely and put the mixture in the container.  Add 17 oz. warm water and

immediately close the container.  Open the container and

consume the mixture after three days.  Nutritionists recommend

consuming 3.5 oz. of this liquid three times a day

Remember those blood vessels when you are trying to age

healthy.

Having any kind of garden can help you and your health

There are a lot of wonderful ways that any gardening can help in YOUR health

Listed below are just some of the wonderful reasons to do any kind of gardening but in my lifetime I have had acres of garden with a neighbor and we canned beans, made ketchup, froze peas, grew jalapenos in Iowa, grew beets, and my Dad tried to grow celery in my garden.  We planted lots of potatoes and even did corn.  But now I do container plants – have beautiful tubular begonias and some other flowers but because my condo does not get enough sun I cannot do vegetable or fruit.

Gardening can reduce risk for stroke

Burn calories

Reduce risk of heart disease

Decreases the likelihood of osteoporosis

Stress buster

Improves one’s health

Making meaning out of our life

Enables us to enter the “zone” also known as an altered state of

Consciousness

Means of survival If necessary

Digging in soil has actual health and mood boosting benefits

Improves relationships and compassion

Lower risk of dementia

Strengthens your immune system

Here are some more reasons to play in the dirt:

Get enough vitamin D

Play in the dirt

Getting grounded – EARTHING

Stress relief

Eat vegetables

Getting exercise

There are so many reasons to plant and care that there is NO REASON NOT TO HAVE SMALL OR LARGE GARDEN

Other reasons:

Sense of responsibility

Be nurturers

Keeps us connected to other living things

Helps us relax and let go

Working in nature release happy hormones

Reminds us to live in the present moment

Reminds us of the cycle of life, and to come to terms with that most universal of anxieties; death

Can allow us to vent anger and aggression

Allows us to feel in control

Gardening is easy

Gardening is good for children and gives all the benefits for

Children as it does for adults.

Love sitting on my deck and enjoying my flowers.

Earthling and gardening is so good for YOU – you do not need to spend hours doing either but spend some time for a lot of health benefits for SELFhood.

Some more good reasons to garden:

Self-esteem

Heart health

Hand strength and dexterity

Brain health and Alzheimer’s risk

Immune regulation

Depression and mental health

Gardening can strengthen YOUR immune system, dirt also

contains a natural antidepressant called Mycobacterium vaccae.

According to research, this particular antidepressant microbe

causes cytokine levels to increase, which in turns boosts the

production of serotonin.  The research as conducted by Bristol

University and University College London.

As we age, gardening helps to stimulate the brain.

Gardening helps in physical exercise, social interactions,

cognitive learning and reducing risks of dementia for people in

their 60s and 70s.

YOU and YOUR Spiritual Happy

Here is a great positive quote by Gordon B Hunckley

“Those who move forward with a Happy Spirit will find that things will always work out.”

Expect the Best

Find Your center

Let go of the past

Focus on what is important

Recognize what is not YOUR stuff and what is

Here are some ways to be Happy Spiritually

Life has a purpose

Inner happiness cannot be taken away

Fill your time with activities that make your heart grow

You a find a place of peace that stress cannot wear out

Wellness will make your body happy

Here are some more inspirations to make Happy Spirits

Design your life to bring JOY

What is YOUR “Golden Self”?

Avoid “if only” fantasies

Allow YOURself to be happy

St. Francis de Sales said: “where there is peace and meditation,

there is neither anxiety nor doubt.”

Meditation is a safe and easy way to move towards a path of

connection, healing, and inner peace.  It is a way to connect to

your own higher wisdom, intuition, and guidance.

Calm is a super power

YOUR body can become sick and unhealthy is YOUR spirit is not

healthy and happy.  That is why mind, body, and spirit are woven

together – that when one is sad and/or has had trauma the other

ones are affected.  They are ONE – they are YOU – the 3.

Here is a wonder inspirational quote:

My to-do list for today:

-count my blessings

-practice kindness

-let go of what I can’t control

-listen to my heart

-be productive yet calm

-just breathe

Keep up the Happy Spirit every day you can because trauma and

sadness does come along once in awhile and throws us back on

our heels.

Stay strong

Stay courteous

Stay positive

Stay grateful

Stay healthy

Remember:

Today will never come again.  Be a blessing.  Be a friend,

Encourage someone.  Take time to care.  Let your words heal,

and not wound.

Here is:

Advice from a tree

Stand tall and proud

Go out on a limb

Remember your roots

Drink plenty of water

Be content with your natural beauty

Enjoy the view

You will never have these 24 hours again.

Sadness and trauma hits us all during different times of our

Life.

Each of us has to get through those times the best way we

Can.  Smile sometimes when going through those times.  Laugh

sometimes when you are going through those times.  Remember

the wonderful moments in life you have had and remember you

will have wonderful moments ahead and in all your tomorrows.

YOU and Immanuel Velikovsky

He wrote great books in the universe, he did all his research.  I

have in my library most of his books and have read them.  I also

have the book written by his daughter who was also a Ph.D. and

wrote about what her father went through mentally when he his

work was rejected, ridiculed and had a hard time getting them

published.

His work has proven to be factual and true – after 40 years of

being disparaged

I also have the book his daughter wrote about her father having

been through those hard years.  Dr. Ruth Velikovsky Sharon is a

psychoanalyst.

Because there were high-level educators that dismissed his work

over the years it took it toll on Dr. Velikovsky mentally.  His

theories from his research all have been proven to be true and

factual.  One of his theories is that the temperature of Venus is

very high and yet the educators were saying it is the same

temperature as earth.  Now we know that Venus temperature is

very high.

The educators and researchers who maintained that what

Velikovsky was not correct but they would only be proven wrong

as our space travel over the years has proven Dr. Velikovsky

correct and those educators and researchers have been made to

look like the uneducated people they are.  Carl Sagan even went

along with the criticism of Dr. Velikovsky.

Never giving up over the years it caused great depression for Dr.

Velikovsky..  We all want our work and research, maybe not to be

glorified but appreciated by our colleagues and equals.

It was never ending and never did end for Dr. Velikocvsky, even

after his death.  I can still see some reviews that there are still left

over non-believers and it breaks my heart after all that has come

out and from all the space travel that has proved his theories

correct

Always know that when YOU challenge the prevailing views and

theories that there will be fallout.

Harvard’s head of the department of Astronomy dept. went after Dr.

Velikovsky for the rest of his life.  Never reading his material, just

not wanting to believe in another thesis because then all they

were teaching would be considered wrong.

I find Dr. Velikovsky a giant among men who have done research

after research for years and years and writes about it only to have

their peers dismiss their work is disturbing that they would not try

to verify the thesis, they disagreed with.  And made a brilliant

mind

into a depressed mind over years and years.

Read Dr. Vilikovsky’s books, at least 1 or 2 and enjoy his journey

of research from cultural myths to reality.

YOU and Gilda Radner ““it’s Always Something” dying with cancer

It was in the early 1990a’s that I read Gilda’s book about her

journey as she was dying of ovarian cancer.

And I can remember as I was reading why was ovarian cancer

so hard to detect and took until it almost had reached the last stages for the

women to have a doctor find it.  It reinforced my thinking that somehow we needed

to keep our inside as healthy as we keep our outside.

Then they came up with a blood test several years after Gilda

passed and that was to help but not all women and not all doctors

were giving the blood test or knew enough to ask for it.

CA-125 Blood test is what they came up with-protein that is in the

blood.  I believe it came out after Gilda had passed also.

Her book is her personal account of her struggle with ovarian

cancer and her inspiring attempt to keep an upbeat attitude during

her illness.  Her discussion of a Santa Monica patient support

group called the Wellness Community is the best part of the

book and may be of interest to cancer patients and their families.

I was not a fan and have never like SNL but I did like Gilda and

her Roseanna Roseanna that I could watch sometimes.

Gilda and Gene Wilder, her husband, used comedy and their

the sense of humor to cope with cancer.

I remember in the late 1940’s my aunt had both her breast

removed and the pain she suffered after That-I believe they

mainly did research on women before the final and best treatment

becomes available.  And I believe Gilda had some of that also

with ovarian cancer before the last 20 years have helped in that

treatment

So YOU can help women and friends that are going through

cancer I highly recommend Gilda’s book, the “The Last Lecture” by

Randy or Dr. Thomas Dooley’s great book as he was dying about

“Before I Sleep”.

I lost my mother, brother and sister to 3 different cancers in the

The early 2000s and I hope as we went through their time in Hospice

that I was a comfort to each of them as they passed.

Be brave and courageous as we go through life, knowing that you

will have family and friends that are dying of cancer.  I know each

of you will be there for them in their journey.

YOU and Water Exercising for Healthy and Happy Aging

The following is from Dr. Mercola’s website about water exercises:

When doing exercises, you may need a change of pace, moving your

workout to the water may rekindle your enthusiasm, while at the same

time providing some unique benefits

You might think you could not possibly get as intense of a workout in the water,

but research suggests otherwise.  Due to the resistance of the water, t just

seems like you cannot work as hard, but in reality, you are.

The water acts as a form of built-in resistance as if you are surrounded

your body with weights, making it simple to increase the intensity of your

workout and challenge muscles that are harder to engage on land.

Also, because water lessens the effects of gravity, you are able to

move your body through a wider range of motion, which improves flexibility.

Even your lungs get a beneficial workout because the water pressure

makes them work harder than they would on land.

Because it is low-impact and easily tailored to your fitness level, anyone

can benefit from water exercise, regardless of age or agility.

If you are overweight or obese, elderly have arthritis, joint pain,

osteoporosis, or an injury that makes weight-bearing exercise difficult or

painful, water may be an excellent choice.  Swimming or walking in water

reduces the pressure n your back and knees.

Exercising in water builds cardiovascular stamina, strength, and flexibility,

helps burn body fat, increases circulation, and can help you rehabilitate

healing muscles and joints.

Research shows that people who water exercise can burn as much body

fat and build as much muscle as those who engage in land-based exercise

programs.

From livestrong.com:

Expect to burn between 400 and 500 calories per hour in a water aerobics

class, according to the Aquatic Exercise Association.  The actual amount

your burn will depend on your size, the intensity of your movements, as

well as water temperature and depth.  In general, faster movements

incorporating the upper a lower body in deep water elicit the greatest

calorie burn.

When exercising in water, you work against 12 times the resistance of air,

according to an article published in “American Fitness”.  Simply kicking and

cupping the water helps contribute to muscle development, which

translates into a higher metabolism and healthier body.

I have been doing water aerobics for about 25 years.  I do 100 – 200 reps

of jumping jacks, leg lifts, jogging, strategies and as fast and as much as I

can and usually in the water for about 1 hour.

YOU and Building YOUR Brain Power as YOU age

Today, we will go over some of the ways to keep building your

brain power as we age.

“Fluid intelligence” refers to the brain’s ability to focus and project

patterns in a useful way and t implies some degree of change in

the hard wiring of the brain.

We each have to search out and find out as we age how to

continually keep our brain healthy and happy.  There are certain

things we need to do and certain applications.  One brain training

site is Lumosity.  Use all your tools to keep the brain/mind active

as YOU age

The following is from forbes.com written by Michael Merzenich,

Ph.D.:

How to make your brain smarter every day

Most older brains, by the way, are neglected.  Thy is, therefore,

slower and less accurate, and do a poorer job recording useful

information and controlling their owner’s actions.  The common

belief not so many years ago, was that we older fold was just

stuck with these declining faculties.  Again, we now know this is

simply not true.  Your brain can be better, stronger, smarter and

safer, starting now.

The areas of the brain that control learning and memory require

regular exercise.

Dr, Merzenich spends time doing some of the following:

Walking

Flower garden,

Vegetable garden,

Orchard

Vineyard

Beehives

Woodshop

Potter’s wheel

Kiln

Making wine,

Jam

Mustard

Bowls

Sculpture

Cabinets

Spaghetti sauce

Kites

Jigsaw puzzles

He and his wife know that every brain needs a regular dose of

social exercise.

Pick one or two of the above that the Dr. does – not all of us have

the funds or even want to do everything on the list.

Learn something new today

Go to the library – read a good non-fiction book.

Dr. Mercola has some good ideas for a smarter brain:

Exercise

Animal-based omegao-3 fats

Fish, liver, bran

Sleep

Coconut Oil

Vitamin D

Optimize your gut flora (called “second brain)

Good probiotic

Vitamin B12

Listen to music

Challenge your mind

I try to do all the above so I can stay sharp and smart as I age

Keep up the good work on keeping your mind/brain smart

YOU and YOUR telomeres

The Nobel Prize in Medicine for breakthrough discoveries in

Telomere Biology was awarded in 2009 to one of the founders of

the company now providing TeloYears.  No other DNA test has

had more prestigious scientific research supporting its

development.

How fantastic to learn how long your telomeres are because  that

is your lifeline.

Dr. Axe.com has the following information on telomeres

Telomeres are segments of DNA at the end of your

chromosomes.  Each time a cell divides, its telomeres become

shorter.  After years of splicing and dicing, telomeres become too

short for more division.  At this point, cells are unable to divide

further and become inactive, die or continue dividing anyway-an

the abnormal process that is potentially dangerous.

Each telomere’ ‘ticking biological clock has the potential to alter us

lives in drastic ways but, interestingly, it is not our age that

determines when the clock will stop – it is the length of your

telomeres

While science still is not 1000 percent sure how telomere length

affects how we age, it is clear that the longer our telomeres are, the

better.  The good news is that there are a variety of lifestyle

changes you can make today to lengthen your telomere.

  1. Control and reduce stress

  1. exercise regularly

3.eat a range of foods for antioxidant and vitamin benefits

  1. practice meditation and yoga

Essentially, this is how our bodies age.  As more of our cells lose

their telomeres and go out of commission, without others to take

their place, the body follows and begins breaking down.  And

telomeres do not leave quietly.  Their shortening process has

been linked to aging, cancer and a higher risk of death

Each telomere’s ticking biological clock has the potential to alter

our lives in drastic ways but, interestingly, it is not our age that

determines when the clock will stop – it is the length of our

telomeres.

Molecular biologist Elizabeth Blackburn shared the Nobel Prize or

her research on telomeres that people are now recognizing how

important they are foraging.  And people, like myself, find it easy

to follow instructions for making our telomeres longer.

Elizabeth and Elissa Epel, are the authors of “The Telomere

Effect.”

Stay tuned because I will do the test to see how my aging is doing

because I am hoping my telomeres are long and beautiful

“Your own self-realization is the greatest service you can give the

world.”  Ramana Maharshi

This website, blogs, and podcast are all about SELFhood and

being self-aware and know:

What Does Life expect from YOU?

When you know SELF so well that YOUR Purpose in life will be

Automatically known and YOU will know

What Does Life expect from YOU in the Moment?

But, the stillness that YOU can have in your daily life.

Being still is very important to YOUR knowing SELF.

Put everything aside for 30 minutes a day for the stillness.

Stillness with the universe is very, very important to your growth

in life

Eckhart Tolle’s book Stillness Speaks reminds each of us how

important stillness is for our spiritual walk in this life.  The book is

a quiet book, small, empty spaces and words that point towards

stillness and silence.

YOU have to read books on a spiritual level today and then read

it in a couple months.  Because in a couple of months YOU will

have developed more than where you are today.

Stillness Speaks is a gentle journey but one that can take you to

a spectacular and a very special place of new awareness and

a deeper understanding of your place in the universe at this time.

Make a commitment to YOUR own stillness to listen to what the

universe has planned for you.  Make the time, do not rush this

because you have the rest of your life to keep moving upward to

all the knowledge and skills you need to KNOW.

We all learn on a daily basis what we learn today and we will

learn more tomorrow when added to today – but have stillness in

your life – be ok with the stillness and talking to the universe or

God or just being thankful for the stillness and quietness to have a

deeper understanding of SELF.

Tolle speaks about that in the nowhere there is everywhere

exists, that it is the nothing that everything is found.  Read each

heading in the book and ponder on each heading and meditate

and pray about every heading in the book and let it go deep within

because you are building and growing and everything YOU read

should be about the growth within and give you tools.

YOU may experience:

Peace

Joy

Aliveness

Serenity

Happiness

Oneness

Gratitude

Playing your role in the universe is what YOU want for SELF.

What Does Life expect from YOU?

The journey to that is what is bringing you fulfillment, purpose

And the ALL that SELF is needing, wanting, and being grateful for

his wonderful journey into YOU and

What Life does expect from YOU

This blog, this podcast, this newsletter is all about YOU – so that

YOU can have 1 place to know:

What Life Does expect from YOU and how to get there.

There will be several topics in today’s blog:

Like I have said over and over again here in these blogs is that

I do prevention against disease; against cancer, diabetes,

arthritis, and any other disease, any autoimmune disease is

really any disease plus inflammations of anything in the body.

My goal is to never have any of the above.  I had already

become hypothyroid in the 1980s and have been determined not

to have anything else that would cause me any disease.  So far,

I have not had any other disease besides that which being

Hypothyroid is enough because one is more susceptible to

cancer, diabetes, and heart disease being hypothyroid so I take

care nutritionally of my body.

Since each of us is unique in body structure with genes and

DNA plus a mired of other factors you need to feed your body

nutrition that will keep you from disease and this website gives

YOU the tools to know your body, mind, and spirit to keep SELF

Healthy while you age.

You need to know how much of each you body needs but

be sure you are putting into your body the best quality you can

afford anything because You are in control of YOUR body and

whether it gets any disease or not.

I believe I would not have gotten hypothyroidism if I had known that

Iodine was the one thing my thyroid runs on and my body was

running out of Iodine.

Below is a list for nutrition that YOUR body needs:

Protein

When you eat foods that contain protein, they are broken down in the body into amino acids.  These amino acids are used to build and repair any muscle tissue.  This is great for those who are physically active or exercise regularly.  You are able to recover at a faster rate than if you do not consume protein.  Every tissue in your body is made up of protein and you need to consume enough through your diet to replenish it.  Protein is also needed to help your immune and nervous system.

Carbohydrates

Gives you energy to function throughout your day.  Good carbs

Can be from vegetables and fruits.  When carbs are ingested your pancreas releases a hormone called insulin.  Insulin helps the carbs to be stored in the muscles or as fat.  Stored carbs in the body are also known as glycogen.  They are an energy supply and help to achieve better fat loss but help in overall physique.

Fats

Without fats, you will not be able to survive.  They keep your body warm during cold weather.  Fats lubricate joints and keep your muscles loose and mobile for good workouts.

Personally, I eat Irish Gold butter which is an excellent fat, I eat cottage cheese not a lot but a little.  I eat beef which has some good fat.

I stay away from bad fats – anything man-made is bad fat or anything else for that matter.

Natural fat is good fat, man-made and processed fat is bad.

Vitamins and minerals,

I make sure I also get enough vitamins and minerals.  B-complex

Is very important.  I drink Yerba mate tea-250 minerals from south

American.  Because I drink some distilled water I take Dr. Marshall’s pink salt for another good dose of minerals.

Water

Always, enough – not too much and not too little.  I have 2 types

Filtered water at home-a PH alkaline water filter and a distilling machine for water and that is all the water I drink from those 2 sources.
