You and Randy Pausch

You say Randy Pausch who? And I have heard Professor Pausch’s lecturer’s he gave and know him as, from my viewpoint.  One of the most influential speakers on death and dying as he was dying while he continued to lecture in college and write the book he gave and know him.  And from my viewpoint, one of the most influential speakers on death and dying as he was dying while he continued to lecture in college and write his book “The Last Lecture”

Professor Pausch was a professor of Computer Science, Human-Computer

Computer Interaction, and Design at Carnegie Mellon University and was 46 and he was dying. In the summer of 2006, the Professor was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, finally, on September 18, 2007, he gave his last lecture, leaving behind a wife and three little children. And he delivered a laugh-filled session on his last lecture of going after your childhood dreams and helping others achieve theirs and enjoying every moment in your life – even the ones that break your heart.

Professor Pausch’s philosophy, in a sentence, was: “We cannot change the cards we are dealt, it is how we play the hand.”

Professor Pausch is how I want my life to look, gracious, dignity, laughter, personal power, love, reaching for our dreams, achieving those dreams.  Therefore,  and when there are veils of negativism withhold into our own soul because we all have those

However, I  cannot say how often I think of Professor Pausch and his last several years of trying to stay well and then having to face his mortality.   Therefore, wanting those days and months to be profound for those he loved, his wife, his 3 little children, and other family members and friends.

Professor Pausch was a great soul and seemed to view life through an angle many will not or cannot.  Magnified beauty and hope and love and makes the most of our most precious commodity-time.  He has touched many lives, mine included, just in learning how to play the hand we are dealt with.

Class act, teachers, left a wonderful book, his last lecture on YouTube, and after you read his book and listen to his last lecture.  I believe your life will be re-focused on making the most of today, tomorrow.  Therefore, it will be re-focused on making the most of today, tomorrow, and in the future.  YOUR time will be more meaningful.

Professor Pausch-The Last Lecture

Listed below are a few messages that I received:

Do what you love, the rest will follow

Be passionate about what you do

Love deeply, with conviction

Play

Be interested in life

Be curious

Never lose the sense of wonder and awe

Support and encourage others

Build great relationships

Above all, and under difficult circumstances, Professor Pausch left many with his

grace and professionalism.  He is an inspiration to me and many others.

His legacy will live forever and for many years to come.

And here we are still talking about Professor Pausch and his legacy – not

only for his wife and children but to us out here “playing our hand”.  And he was

loving, laughing, being productive, being of goodwill and passing it on

to those around us whom we love

Yoga Breathing benefits the Brain.

New research has established a direct link between the way we breathe and improving our brains.  And through the stimulation of noradrenaline.  This is a hormone which is released when we are focused on a task.

Yoga breathing benefits the brain.  Practice for thousands of years by yogis, breath-focused meditation based on observation.  And control of our breathing is known to increase the ability to focus.  But it also decreases emotional reactivity, and improves arousal levels.

This research on over 65s by showed that meditation had a positive effect on brain aging by boosting cognitive function.  It is possible that by focusing on and regulating your breathing you can optimize your attention level.  And by focusing on your attention level, your breathing becomes more synchronized.

I have a book by a Doctor and a health guy, Matthew Cross and Robert Friedman, MD.  And it recommends using the Fibonacci series to breathe and makes you healthier.  I use that also.  And another book by a runner that breathes and has won many marathons on this breathing technique. That book is Consistent Winning by Ronald Sandler, D.P.M. and Dennis Lobstein, Ph.D.

There are breathing classes in most cities anymore.  I have attended several.  But it is important to breathe through the nose.  And do use the Fibonacci series – it is healthy and very good for your body.

How you breathe is very important.  There have been studies and research to prove that how you breath can help while aging.  Pay attention to how your body functions as you breathe according to the studies and research.

Yoga Breathing benefits the Brain.

Consistent Winning book tells you all the different ways to help yourself if you are doing marathons or any type of exercises.   Dr. Sears has a great book I use also about fast and slow downs for exercise and breathing.

It matters how you breathe.  It matters as you are aging how you breathe.  If you run marathons it matters how you breathe.

Childhood trauma can cause adult anxiety. Who would have thought that?  Dr. Gabor Mate, a Psychiatrist, out of Canada, has devoted a great of his life to this research.  I hope you will go and look at his work and books.  Listen to his youtube or his lectures.  Buy his books because YOU will learn something.

There is anything that can cause trauma in childhood.  Divorce, moving, changing schools, hearing parents argue.  Many more things can create trauma.  My grandmother died in 1945 and my sister was very close to her but Sally never moved through the grieving process for her death.  So all her life she carried that grief, she became an alcoholic.  and she died having a terrible regret of not making her life meaningful or having a purpose.  It all happens 1 day at a time.  While we are getting up in the morning and not having a plan for the day.  It happens when we think we have to go out and drink.  And go out with friends.  Stay home with your family and handle SELF.  Who are you or your  SELFHOOD?  Name your purpose?  What will give you a meaningful life or brings you JOY?

Childhood Trauma can cause adult anxiety

However, there are many things you can do to know SELF.  Stop watching TV, entertainment, sports, or having anything more than family.  Learn how to say NO.  Do not have to go out and be with friends.  Stay home with your children and family.  Be positive and have a daily purpose or program.  Be productive and have a healthy social circle.  But do not have a social circle before children and family.

Make the first 6 years of your child’s life the most important in YOUR life.  Those 6 years will be the greatest in YOUR child’s life and YOURs also.  Limit the chances of having adult anxiety by limiting trauma.
