YOU and Marcus Aurelius and his book “Meditations

One of the world’s most famous and influential books,

Meditations, by the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius incorporates

the stoic precepts he used to cope with his life as a warrior and

administrator of an empire.  Ascending to the throne in A.D. 161,

Aurelius found his reign beset by natural disasters and war.  In the

wake of these challenges, he set down a series of private

reflections, outlining a philosophy of commitment to virtue above

pleasure and tranquility above happiness.

 

Marcus wrote for himself, to improve himself, to consider what

and who he should be; as a result, he wrote a guide for the rest of

of us.

 

Self-perception, self-examination, and the power to make of itself

whatever it wants. it reaches its intended goal, no matter where

the limit of its life is set.  Marcus Aurelius makes comments and

points based on faith and as a believer, I like that.

Marcus Aurelius kept a diary and “Meditations” is from those

journals and writings.

 

There are different translations and you just have to find a

translation that works for you.  But, they all will follow the thought

process and wording of Marcus Aurelius’.

 

“Meditations” are unique in classical literature because it is the

personal and philosophical diary written in Greek by an

intellectual Roman emperor without any thought or intention of

publications – and remain of unique interest and relevance to the

modern world.  A lot of his thoughts and writings in the

diary is held by many when reading them today.

 

I loved reading his biography many years ago by Anthony R>

Birley.  I am sure there are other biographies about Marcus.

Here he was a Roman Emperor and writing about:

The following could be said by any number of motivational

speakers today:

 

“Do not imagine that, if something is hard for you to achieve, it is

therefore, impossible for any man but rather consider anything that

is humanly possible and appropriate to lie within your own reach

too.”

 

How wonderful to know that thought from a Roman Emperor?

 

TRUTH

 

“If someone can prove me wrong and show me my mistake in any

thought or action, I shall gladly change.  I seek the Truth, which

never harmed anyone; the harm is to persist in one’s own self-

deception and ignorance.

 

CHANGE

Here we are, how many centuries beyond Marcus Aurelius, a stoic

prince who became an Emperor, after Hadrian who as far as I have

read never thought that deeply about much except his next move

as Emperor.  And I did read a biography of him and the Hadrian

wall and all his wars and being away from Rome for long periods

of time.

YOU and GOD and science

GOD is everything to me. He created all, all the universes, all the

way everything functions, and if YOU look at the Fibonacci theory

that tells a lot about GOD because everything GOD has made

can be traced by the Fibonacci theory – numbers.

 

But, there is a new DVD that can be ordered and really understand

that GOD is becoming better understood in the scientific

community and scientist themselves are coming to understand

that GOD is the force behind everything.

It talks about how scientist are becoming more acceptable that

GOD created all.  I am sure there are always going to be atheists

but many will change over time

Just like Immanuel Velikovsky – anyone different in theory from

the norm and from what universities having been taught for

probably centuries and anyone attending those universities has

believed what they have been taught – like a “wedge” of the pie

The mind can trap you to feeling irritable and exhausted but can

stress and harm to those around us because we can become very

demanding as we seek absolute control and perfection from

everyone and everything around us.

 

When YOUR expectations are not met exactly as we want, we

experience feelings of intense frustration.  T can be a huge cause

of stress because we use so much energy trying to make things

unfold exactly as we want them.  It is exhausting for us, as well as

everyone else around us.

 

Do not get caught in the grip of the expectations trap we can

become very demanding.  When we invest greatly in something or

someone, then we tend to expect a far greater return.  This is

often between parents and children.  The parent is desperate for

the child to live up to their expectations.  These could be passed

down through the generations.

 

Child will almost certainly rebel in some way or other.

When we place unrealistic or unnecessary expectations on

ourselves or others, inevitably we will experience disappointment,

frustration and even anger.

 

Do you see the problem here?

What are our expectations of others or ourselves?

WRONG QUESTION for sure.

The question should be:

What does LIFE expect from YOU?

Not what YOU expect from LIFE

There has been so much written about expectations but they are

not realizing or even thinking they do not know how to ask the

right question or what the right question is to ask.

Having expectations for SELF and others only brings about what

we now can say is all our diseases of modern day.

But turn the word expectations around and always and forever

ask:

What does MY Life expect from SELF?

What does Life expect from me?

Never what YOU expect from Life

But,

What does LIFE expect from YOU?

YOU will only know what LIFE expects from YOU until you work

the book on this website and listen to the podcasts because there

is nothing on the internet or nothing in counseling that, or nothing

in any school that prepares YOU to ask the QUESTION:

What does LIFE expect from YOU?

It is the biggest question in YOUR life.

It is the biggest question in anyone’s life.

Because

YOU and Research showing soil depletion of vitamins & nutrients

The main culprit in the disturbing nutritional trend is soil depletion:

modern intensive agricultural methods have stripped increasing

amounts of nutrients from the soil in which the food we eat grows.

truly less good for you than the one before

 

A landmark study on the topic by Donald Davis and his team of

researchers from the University of Texas(UT) at Austin’s

Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry was published in

December 2004 in the Journal of the American College of

Nutrition.  They studied U.S Department of Agriculture nutritional

 

Data from both 195 and 1999 for 43 different vegetables and

fruits, finding “reliable declines” in the amount of protein,

calcium, phosphorus, iron, riboflavin(vitamin B2)and vitamin c over

the past half century.  Davis and his colleagues chalk up this

declining nutritional content to the preponderance of agricultural

practices designed to improve traits,(size, growth rate, pest

resistance other than nutrition.

The organic Consumers Association cites several other studies

with similar findings.  A Kushi Institute analysis of nutrient date

from 1975 to 1997 found that average calcium levels in 12 fresh

also.  One study concluded that one has to eat eight oranges

today to derive the same amount of Vitamin A as our
